Is NIIC open to the general public?

Yes, all are welcome to attend.

Is NIIC open to the media?

Yes, for more information about media credentials and a press pass, please contact susana@communicationsshop.us.

Can I volunteer at NIIC?

Yes! A team of more than 100 volunteers is needed to power NIIC. More info is here and you can sign up here.

NIIC is 3 days long but I only want to attend for 2 days? How do I register?

NIIC provides 1 Day Registrations and full 3 Day Registrations. If you are attending NIIC for 2 days, a full 3 Day Registration will be needed. 1 Day Registrations cannot be combined.

Does NIIC provide hotel rooms?

NIIC has a block of discounted rooms at our conference hotel -- the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center in Detroit, MI. Reservations must be made directly with the hotel; NIIC does not providing housing assistance. The hotel booking deadline is October 1st. For more information about the hotel see here. Does NIIC provide travel support for conference attendees?

No, NIIC has a limited pool of scholarships available but there is no general travel support for attendees. Our Scholarship Application period is late July-August. For more information, see here.

Does NIIC provide meals?

NIIC provides the following meals to all those registered for the full conference or the days in question:

  • Sunday October 20 – Coffee break provided by NIIC; lunch and dinner on your own

  • Monday October 21 – Breakfast, lunch and coffee break provided by NIIC; dinner on your own

  • Tuesday October 22 – Breakfast and coffee break provided by NIIC; dinner on your own

All meals include vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. Halal and Kosher meals available upon advance request when registering for NIIC.

Does NIIC have an airline partner?

Not at this time. We welcome ideas about such partnerships; if you are interested in exploring this with NIIC, please contact cynthia@partnershipfornewamericans.org

Are there scholarship opportunities?

Yes, NIIC provides a limited number of scholarships each year. Our Scholarship Application period is late July-August. Awardees will be notified on a rolling basis in September. We typically have over 200 applicants and are able to support less than 100 of such requests. We do encourage Scholarship Applicants to also explore alternative sources of support to attend NIIC.

Are youth/children able to attend?

The bulk of NIIC’s programming is not focused on youth/children. Young people may attend but minors must be accompanied by an adult. Stay tuned for information about some sessions at NIIC 2019 that may be of particular interest to youth and families.

Is childcare available?

NIIC does not typically provide childcare for the duration of the conference. This year in Detroit, we hope to provide childcare support on Sunday October 20, 2019. Stay tuned for additional information.

Are NIIC spaces accessible?

Yes, all the NIIC spaces are accessible for those with mobility challenges and/or using wheelchairs or walkers.

 

Is interpretation available at NIIC?

Most of NIIC is conducted in English. We seek to be an accessible space within our budget constraints. Simultaneous interpretation in Spanish is always offered in our plenary sessions. Stay tuned for additional information about interpretation we may be providing in other sessions and other languages.

 

Is NIIC live-streamed?

Some NIIC sessions will be available via social media but details will not be available until September 2019.

My organization would like to Sponsor NIIC or join the NIIC Steering Committee; how do we do that?
