Venue

NIIC 2019 will be held at the Detroit’s convention center, the TCF Center (formerly Cobo Center) located along the Detroit River waterfront in downtown Detroit, MI. TCF Center is one of the largest convention centers in the United States and is managed by the Detroit Regional Convention Facility Authority (DRCFA).

The TCF Center is accessible by the Detroit People Mover elevated train; the Qline, launched in 2017; and the FAST bus, commuting to/from suburbs and the airport. Please visit the the TCF Center’s “Getting Here” Guide to find more details.

Onsite parking is available at the TCF Center Roof Deck, as well as two sites located underneath the TCF Center: the Washington Street Garage and the Congress Street Garage. Hotel

NIIC has a discounted block of hotel rooms at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center in Detroit, MI, a four-star hotel that overlooks downtown’s famous River Walk and is located not far from the TCF Center where NIIC 2019 will take place.

NIIC attendees are also strongly encouraged to make their hotel bookings as soon as possible. Due to the Detroit Marathon which takes place October 19-20 (see below for more information), downtown properties will book up quickly!

The hotel is accessible via Detroit’s People Mover transit system and within walking distance of the TCF Center (~15 minutes) and numerous other downtown attractions. The hotel includes a modern fitness center, restaurant, bar and coffee shop. The Renaissance Center is also home to the headquarters of General Motors, numerous restaurants and shops.

Parking is available for a fee onsite ($25/day; $35/Valet daily), as well as offsite ($5/hour; $20/day).

Detroit Marathon

The annual Detroit Free Press Marathon and Half Marathon will be taking place in downtown Detroit the weekend of October 19-20, 2019. Between the hours of 4am and 2pm on Sunday October 20 -- race day, which is also NIIC’s opening day -- there will be increased traffic, street closures and related delays in the downtown and waterfront area.Please plan your travel and arrival to NIIC accordingly and allow for additional transit time.

NIIC attendees are also strongly encouraged to make their hotel bookings as soon as possible. Downtown properties will book up quickly!


Airport Information

The Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) is located ~21 miles southwest of the TCF Center (NIIC venue) and Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center (NIIC hotel).

Neither TCF Center nor the Marriott provide direct shuttle service to/from the airport. For driving directions from the airport to the hotel, please consult the “Airport Information” on the hotel travel directory.

  • The local public transit system SMART offers a high-frequency service called FAST. From both DTW terminals, take the Eastbound Route 261 (Michigan Avenue) bus; in just over an hour, it will reach the Larned & Brush stop, a 4-minute walk from the NIIC hotel.   • Trinity Transportation is a local shuttle service business that offers rides to and from the Metro Airport, which you can book or find more information about at trinitytransportation.com.

  • Estimated taxi or car service fare (one-way) is $50-$65 and takes about 25-30 minutes without traffic.
